Welcome to Ravenswood Bluff
(An introduction to Blood on the Clocktower)

In the quiet village of Ravenswood Bluff, ‌a demon walks amongst you. During a hellish thunderstorm, on the stroke of midnight, there echoes a bone-chilling scream. The townsfolk rush to investigate and find the town storyteller murdered, their body impaled on the hands of the clocktower, blood dripping onto the cobblestones below. A Demon is on the loose, murdering by night and disguised in human form by day. Some have scraps of information. Others have abilities that fight the evil or protect the innocent. But the Demon and its evil minions are spreading lies to confuse and breed suspicion. Will the good townsfolk put the puzzle together in time to execute the true demon and save themselves? Or will evil overrun this once peaceful village?
Over the past year we've been please to welcome Ottawa Plays Blood on the Clocktower (https://ottawaplaysbotc.com/) into our gaming space every second Tuesday of the month, where they typically run a game with a script suitable for newer players, and a game with an advanced script for the more experienced players.

This year Kanata Con is pleased to offer an Introduction to Blood on the Clocktower (BotC) event for those interested in giving it a try, guided by the group’s most beginner-friendly Storytellers. The game has become a worldwide hit, has been featured on many YouTube channels, and has spawned many conventions and cruises.

BotC is a bluffing game for 5 to 20 players wherein each person secretly chooses a unique character token out of the bag placing them on either the good team—Townsfolk and Outsiders who start the game not knowing each other—or the evil team—a Demon and Minions who start the game knowing each other. It’s your classic uninformed majority versus informed minority setup, and each character has a unique ability that helps (or hinders) their team. The game unfolds over alternating Night phases—wherein players get woken to receive information, use their abilities, and the Demon kills—and Day phases—wherein everyone has private chats and then gathers in the town square to chat publicly, possibly use their abilities, nominate, and execute a player by majority vote, which immediately launches the next Night phase. Good wins if they successfully kill the Demon, and evil wins if only evil players remain alive, or when only two players remain alive, one of them being the Demon.

The absolute best and most delightful overview of the game is from its creators over at the Pandemonium Institute:
