In New York 1901 players relive the dawn of modern New York City, the historic years that made it what it is today. Build bigger and higher skyscrapers on some of Lower Manhattan's most iconic streets. Raise one of four legendary skyscrapers — the Park Row, the Singer, the Metropolitan Life, or the majestic Woolworth — and make one of them the crown jewel of your real estate empire! Who can be the most successful real estate developer and raise the raise New York City to new heights.

Game Play

In New York 1901, the players are building skyscrapers on a map of New York's Financial District. Players take location cards from a card's display and then use 2-3 of those location cards to place Tetris-shaped building tiles on the board. They first build bronze level buildings. Later in the game those buildings can be replaced by silver level and gold level buildings.
This is a terrific game for new and experienced gamers alike. While the rule set and early stages of the game may seem easy, decisions soon become more difficult as players block each other, decide what buildings should be demolished and rebuilt and consider the how the development of their real estate empire affects their position for street majority bonuses and end game bonus points.

Whether you are planning on participating in the tournament or not, come learn how to play this game and give it a try. There will be an opportunity to learn New York 1901 and play a practice game before the tournament.

​New York 1901 Tournament

  • ​Structure (space limited to 8 players)
    • This is planned to be a 2 round tournament with a 2 four player tables in round one and the top two from each table advancing to round 2. However, the final structure will be contingent upon the numbers of players participating
    • In the first round both tables will play the same setup. This includes starting positions, “Streets of New York” bonus cards and the Bonus Challenge card.
    • In the second round, starting positions, “Streets of New York” bonus cards and the Bonus Challenge card will be randomly selected.
  • When
    • Round 1 – Saturday afternoon, 1pm
    • Round 2 – Following round 1, approximately 2pm
  • Prizes
    • A prize will be given to the winner of the tournament
