Open gaming is an opportunity to learn about the marvelous world of strategy board games by visiting a games library, checking out a game, getting taught by an expert and reveling in the experience! Modern board games are typically victory point oriented, time constrained, focus on decision making, and a fun social experience! The library will contain such titles as: The Great Canadian Board Game Blitz (GCBGB) is a circuit of board game tournaments held at Canadian game conventions and retailers. Why not bring them along? We'll have some kid friendly gaming happening in the morning and afternoon. You are welcome to team up with your kids in a game of Forbidden Island or Star Wars: X Wing, or let the kids fight it out in a game of Heroscape or Summoner Wars while you fight for the universe in a game of Twilight Imperium III or Eclipse. We'll have lots of games for the kids to choose from. We do ask that anyone who brings a child remain to play games as well.
Kanata Board Gamers will be hosting our first ever home-grown, full day, open gaming session on September 14. We will have a number of people running various games if you feel like trying a game or two; or for the adventurous, enter the Great Canadian Board Game Blitz, to test your mettle across a marathon of games.
It will be held at the Kanata Community Christian Reformed Church with admission at $5 per person. More details will follow, so stay tuned! |
